Antarctica, first discovered by Captain James Cook in 1773, is a place that is pretty much unexploited from human. Many countries set their base in Antarctica to make important research and discoveries.
Antarctica is declared as 'land owned by no-one', it means that nobody can own a piece of the land, we all share the Antarctica (including us :D ). Many treaties and agreements made in order to protect Antarctica from many hazards created by mankinds. Thus, 'GreenPeace', a group created by many countries under the agreements, is tasked to protect the common resource at all costs.
However.... due to some reasons, seven countries - England, Australia, Argentina, Norway, Chile, France and New Zealand, stated that they claim Antarctica. This is really weird, considering the major discoveries and research done by the Americans and Russians, did not request to claim part of Antarctica. Both big nations from East and West had signed the agreements of sharing Antarctica with the whole world.
Clearly, the seven countries want Antarctica for their own uses, they want to exploit the resource in Antarctica due to the lack of resource in the countries. Thus, this sparks a war between countries to either exploit resources or to save Antarctica and leave it .
Lessons learned from Canada, where CoD fish nearly extinct. The nations do not want to repeat the mistake again, except this time in Antarctica. Therefore, there are over 45 countries signed under an agreement that no countries can own Antarctica. The common resources must be shared with the whole world.
Oh and screw that 7 countries :)
