This week I would like to comment on the article- ''The Price of Marriage in China.'' The article mainly talks about the growing matchmaking market in China. The unbalanced proportion of men and women in China has led to an increase in the size of matchmaking market. There are increasing number of unmarried males as the woman's statues in society have changed and lots of them have power and money. The males want to find girls who are young, pretty and with low profile. They do not want girls who have more money or higher social statues than them so that they can have a control over them. The demand for girls is high and the supply of girls is low which have raised the ''cost'' of marriage. In this article, males without apartments in the city get rejected by the females. They also need to pay the ''bride'' fees which are thousands dollars when they get married. The high cost of marriage will eventually lead to a decreased in the number of marriages and a low birth rate in China. Order to lower the demand thus lower cost of marriage, the Chinese government should come up with a solution and apply to prevent possible future disaster where there are just old unmarried males and females in the country.
